CHILDREN PROGRAMS

Welcome to Live In French, LLC

At Live In French, we understand that authentic, informal conversation in a foreign language is an experience fundamentally different from reading or writing in that language. To us, it is a social and fun experience by nature that cannot be properly emulated with big groups or in a traditional classroom environment. This is especially true with children, who easily get bored with traditional class formats and prefer to learn through games and hands-on activities.

During our highly interactive programs, we strive to create a fun and relaxed environment while effectively engaging your child's enthusiasm. Each time we meet feels like a treat rather than school work, and the learning is almost effortless.  Children learn a lot though, using a mix of  auditory, visual, kinesthetic and sensory approaches through games, a music CDs & its bilingual lyrics booklet, recorded readings, etc. On special occasions, we cook a traditional French recipe together. Finally, depending on the group dynamics, children progressively learn to read in French with a near perfect accent. Groups are intentionally small with a maximum of 8 students, for maximum participation.

Our children conversation programs offer a progressive immersion format, and have been carefully designed to foster comfortable, natural speaking and to attain native-like fluency within an authentic cultural context, in a way that non-native speakers and most methods simply cannot achieve on their own. That is why families drive weekly from Cedar Park, Elgin and San Antonio to have their children in our French Conversation Programs.

We hope your children try our programs, and also fall in love!

All our programs are highly interactive; but, at this level especially, we strive to create a fun and relaxed environment while effectively engaging your child's enthusiasm. Because we play a lot of targeted games and sometimes cook something French, the classes feel like a treat rather than work, and the learning is almost effortless.  We learn a lot though, using a mix of auditory, visual, kinesthetic and sensory approaches through games, a music CDs & its bilingual lyrics booklet, recorded readings, etc.  Finally, depending on the group dynamics, we even progressively teach the children to read in French with a near perfect accent. Children typically end the year speaking spontaneously in full sentences and comfortably engaging in light conversations, entirely in French. They usually end up feeling comfortable being 100% immersed in French in most daily situations, and  in some cases understanding and reading in French many of the books in our large lending library.

Level 2 - Intermediate to Advanced

Effective Cost Per Hour  $18

The Intermediate to Advanced program is a full immersion program for selected students with advanced French skills, and those able to function adequately in a full immersion setting.
This is a small casual conversation group, with a maximum of 8 participating students, ages 7 to 16 (priority is given to returning students)
Children meet for 2hrs each week for sustained progress via a reasonable time commitment.
Homeschool custom groups available on request.
At this level, we have discussions about past and future situations, we present various subjects of interest to this age group, we emulate real-life situations and conversations, read and watch short videos to discuss them in groups, play board games, etc. ... all that in French.
Depending on the age range, group level and level of priorities for the group, we may also walk through the materials of French 1 per the ACC textbook (materials provided), albeit in a fun and informal way. The children are provided on request a list of excellent French resources to help them stay connected with the language throughout the week and Summer months.
