Have you ever taken French
classes and come out not being able to hold a fluid
conversation with native
speakers? Or felt that you could hardly
understand native speakers, even if you have a good grasp of
written French and had no problems understanding in class?
is because when native speakers talk to each other, they use a much
less formal registry than when they write, an informal version of the
language full of contractions, liaisons and colloquialisms
that are basically never used in the written form.
